I remember watching "One More Minute" about a year ago and this is definitely a step up as far as animation goes. Don't get me wrong, I really liked that cartoon, but this one shows great improvement in using some great frame by frame techniques and staying close to tweening as well, which is never a bad thing (unless its just a tween that serves no purpose). Anyways, the characters were well drawn out and I love that fact that you didn't decide to use sprites, so extra points for that
As for the story, It was interesting. I may be the only one, but i didn't really understand what was going on. What I grasped was that toad was just showing mario different levels of hell with memorable characters from the game in there. Some people might understand it so I wont take points for that (I understand this is a school project)
I'm impressed that you went out of your way to voice act it. I wouldn't have worked any other way. I didn't particularly like the voice acting (not saying youre bad, but i just didn't work for me). You should probably try to get free voice actors online. They could have done a better job and I know plenty always looking for work.
Overall, good work and I hope to see more later this year
Author's Response:
I know what you mean with the voices. I personally think I can voice act fairly well... unless it comes to Toad's voice. Just trying to get that high-pitch raspy sound is really hard and hurts my throat... so it isn't even entirely consistent throughout the movie.
Thanks for the review!

Man, I love your style Mike. Your fist episode of the series was pretty funny. My favorite part was the wikipedia scene. Anyways, the animations was on par with your usual stuff. Nothing big really changed in style or anything, which is good. Sometimes I had a problem with how the hands looked whenever they were talking. Sometimes they move well and other times they look weird and out of place. As always, Josh does an amazing job with the voice acting and the script was well written. Can't wait for the next episode man
Author's Response:
Yeah, I'll focus more on the movement next time, lip syncing is just teeedious. Anyways, coming from an artist I admire as much as yourself, this really means a lot man, thanks.

I don't understand why the score was so low. Well, I guess if it isn't funny then it doesn't get the high scores like other animations out there. As you can see, most of the top animations are all comedies and I can think of atleast 5 other animations that are way better than the ones up there. But I shouldn't complain. I think this deserves an award of some sort. The animation was really well done. The slow motion parts were especially the most impressive. I have to commend you on the effort you put on this. Hopefully you'll get your day when you kick ass score wise and get the popularity you deserve. For this, I think you just choose the wrong day. Never submit on the day you know there is gonna be a huge group of Christmas flashes. Today would have been a good day to submit. Or even yesterday. Anyways, good luck on your future efforts. Thanks a lot man! Your animation was great too, I can really see the effort you put into it. Well, guess maybe one of these days people will like my flashes as I'd like to. Happy Holdays. :)

The animation was really good man, especially since you only did it in like 3 weeks. I'm glad you mustered up enough energy to get this out. My favorite part of the animation is where the dolls are braiding her hair together. I also like where the bear jumps into the girl's hands. Everything moved smoothly. The only part that probably needed work was just the pirate part. There was a particular shot where it kind of flashed and looked like the ship was already close to the screen, then it goes back to tweening from the back to the front. I don't know, there was just a problem with that shot right when it cuts to the pirate part. Other than that I thought everything else was great. Love the story and how you made the toys come to life. Good Job and Good Luck

Despite the low quality sound, I really enjoyed this flash. the frame by frame animation was incredibly well done, especially the part where Santa and the elf shake hands. I generally like cartoons with the bad guy trying to foil someones plans and ends up getting hurt in the process. Reminds me of the day when I used to watch Tom and Jerry or Roadrunner. Anyways, the story ended like I thought it would because I was waiting for the band to show up :). I have to take some points off for the sound fx and there were a few gripes I had with some of the lines because I couldn't really hear everything. However, this is definitely worth checking out and good luck with the contest

You get extra points for using a Barry White song man. When I saw the shot of Santa shaking his butt to the music, that pretty much made me say "I'm gonna give this a five. The animation was very clean (at some points it was missing a few in-betweens, but it was still good nonetheless). I kind of wish it didn't end without finishing the song, but I thought you did a good job at giving it an end even when the song was barely over. Now I have to add this to my favorites to show my mom because she loves her some Barry White. Keep it up man... I loved every minute of this

This is gonna be one of those flashes that will be on the front page next year after they announce the winners of the treasure hunt. I have a feeling it's one of those types of flashes... a gem. Even though there wasn't really much animation, that didn't really take away from the joke.. in fact, it made it even funnier. I'll add this to my favorites so I wont forget it exist and it gets lost in the portal. Can't way to see more from you Rudy

Author's Response:
Awh, that's really nice to hear. I'll be releasing another joke tonight around 12am again, so I better start working on it sometime soon. I tried to keep the animation low because I didn't feel like it needed to be intensely made to even tell the joke.
And besides, I'm doing rough sketches and easy drawings since my tablet broke not too long ago -- So I'm stuck being a mouse artist at the moment.

The timing in this parody was incredibly off considering its suppose to be an awesome-like movie. Maybe if it wasn't called awesome i wouldn't hold it against you, but the way you pace your jokes is a tad slow and not really as crazy as it should be. The drawing was spot on comapred to the first metal gear awesome. The animation was good as well, but it definitely doesn't hold a candle to the newer awesomes. Like i said, I probably wouldn't focus on these things if you werent labeling it as an awesome movie. Judging it as a stand alone this is what i will say:
I didn't really laugh once during the parody. Not that the jokes were bad, but the pacing didn't really feel right at all. Also, it seemed you copied alot of the jokes from the other Metal Gear Awesomes. I never like listening to repeated jokes. If i wanted to do that, I would just watch the other Metal Gear Awesomes. The fact that you managed to make 25% of this recycled jokes just turned me off, especially the pyschomantis joke about reading his mind to see what games he likes. Also, the delivery of snakes lines was sort of bad. Especially the part where he says, Octagon, what the eff?
It would be unfair for me to give you anything under a 7. The hard work really does show and this is probably the one of the best animated awesome tributes out there (you stick very close to the style). Id probably put this over grand theft awesome animation wise (even though the timing for that one is spot on) and under Awesome racer. Just work on the way you pace things. If you are going to do an awesom parody, do it right
Also, I sincerely believe you made this as a tribute. I hate when people give this a 0 or 3 just because its another copy. There have been so many that im used to it by now and could care less anymore, but i just grade it on how it could be better just like a review should be. If you are gonna trash someone, do it on your own time in a forum or a news post. Well, good luck with your future projects.
Author's Response:
I very much agree. Yes, I think it's pretty fair. People who vote 0 just because it's a tribute don't need to actually vote at all - their votes will screw up the rating that will give me an idea of how the movie fairs. Thanks man.

I really love what you did with the frame by frame in this. The characters moved continuously along with the background. It's crazy how you managed to do those shots where even the background moved in order to make it seem like the camera did a turn shot. It was like 3d or something. Anyways, you did an amazing job. The story was pretty funny and sweet. Luckily the blue thing didn't have a heart attack. Good work overall
Author's Response:
Yeah, I was worried about the blue guy too there for a minute. It's funny when you realise the power you have over your characters, I could kill them at any moment! :O

"Incredibly detailed drawings....Disney deatialed!"
The character designs were incredibly well done. It reminds me alot of the way disney characters look, especially the eyes. The line art is incredibly smooth, something i find i try to deal with alot. It seems like you put alot of time into making the art super detailed. It feels like this was a storyboard sequenced colorized. Its fine that its done like this, but it would have really blown my mind even more if there was more work done in the animation. It fills like its missing the inbetween artist to put in the extra frames. Overall it was well done. I have to say that I am still jealous at the character designs. I strive for a disney look alot, and i never get the eyes right haha. But you did it justice. So yeah, inbetweens are definitely needed in the toon. Other than that, I give it a five for the comedy and detailed drawings. Can't wait to see what else you have in store
Author's Response:
So yeah no inbetweens here.
I did spend a lot of time with character design.
I grew up on Disney of course but now I look to things like Teen Titans
(Glen Murakami) and the new Spectacular Spiderman (Sean Galloway). Great design of people drawn simply.
